Additional Services

Dentures

Blakehurst Dental provides a complete range of denture services to replace some or all of your missing teeth. During your initial consultation, our dentist will assess your needs and examine your mouth for suitability for dentures. If you are a good candidate for dentures, we can offer full or partial dentures. Your dentures will be custom-made and fitted, with the option to have a denture made for immediate placement following a tooth extraction. Your dentures may cause some soreness when initially placed into the mouth and can require review appointment to adjust.

Mouth Guards

If you want to prevent injury to the head and teeth during contact sports, a mouth guard is an essential measure. Our dental team offer custom-made mouth guards to protect the lips, cheeks, teeth and tongue. Mouthguards also cushion any blows to the jaw and can prevent damage to the neck or brain.

Occlusal Splints

Bruxism, commonly known as tooth grinding, is a common condition that occurs while a person is asleep. This grinding can cause a range of issues from worn and chipped teeth to facial and neck muscle pain. Blakehurst Dental can provide an occlusal splint or night guard to be worn while you sleep. This can protect and reduce the damage caused to teeth, however, it won’t actually prevent tooth grinding.

Snoring Appliances

Snoring occurs when the area at the back of the throat or in the nose relaxes and narrows during sleep. This restricted air movement results in the snoring sound.

There are many sleep disorders which can adversely affect your health. The most serious of these is called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea which can result in issues including fatigue, irritability, memory loss and excessive daytime sleepiness.

Our dentists can custom make a Mandibular Advancement Device to hold your lower jaw and tongue forward. This device is designed to keep your airway open while you sleep.
